KASUGA F-100? FOLK OM SIZE VINTAGE ACOUSTIC
This a fantastic looking acoustic guitar made in Japan circa 1970’s based on a Martin OM/00 type.
Made in the heyday of collectable Japanese instruments Kasuga Gakki were one of the big 3 guitar factories in Japan and in fact were one of the first established in 1935 in Nagoya by Kazuyuki Kasuga during the 1960’s & 70’s they shipped guitars under their own brand and made for other brands but by the 1980’s they were completely an OEM brand manufacturer making instruments for ESP, Burny, SAGA and Yamaha among others.
These don’t come up for sale very often and as such it’s difficult to find information on them.
I have called this an F-100 as I found an F-200 which is an identical instrument apart from it having a 1st fret block inlay and an inlay between the machineheads on the face of the headstock.
Unfortunately there is very little of the label inside the guitar left so all information is lost.
This is all laminate construction as were most of the guitars coming from Japan at that time, it has a beautifully aged spruce top.
- Rosewood back/sides
- Mahogany neck
- Rosewood fingerboard
- Snowflake inlays
In remarkable condition for something that is potentially 50 years old a few dings but nothing major at all.
There is just one adjustment screw for the bridge missing but I’m sure it would be easy to find something to fit although the action is fine without it.
When these do come up for sale they seem to sell in the region of £300-350 so I have priced it in the middle.
Great opportunity to own a lovely playing and sounding vintage guitar without the vintage price tag.
